What is Air Purification?

Living in a densely populated, fast-moving world – full of machinery, technology, and pollutants – brings with it a cost to air quality, which in turn presents issues for human health. The recent global pandemic has also highlighted how airborne viruses and bacteria easily spread in unventilated, high-traffic spaces.

The way to achieve cleaner, breathable air is air purification – although traditionally purification equipment has been expensive, cumbersome, and not entirely reliable. Now however, with great strides in technology, there is a new generation of air cleaner with a range of air purifier products combining modern design and high performance, suitable for all situations from large public settings and healthcare to home and personal use.

What is air purification?

In the simplest terms, air purification is when a device removes contaminants from the air in a room to improve indoor air quality. Air purifiers or air cleaners can remove allergens such as dust, pollen, mould spores, and pet dander, from the air, as well as chemicals like smoke particles and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) which can pose a risk to health. Studies during the Covid-19 pandemic have also shown air purification systems can effectively eliminate the airborne SARS-CoV-2 virus and other viruses and bacteria from the air.

How does it work?

There are two main types of air purifiers available, active and passive, which work in different ways. Whilst active air purifiers work by actively pre-treating the air so they can attack contaminants as they happen. Passive air purification units force contaminated air through filters to remove pollutants, then pump clean fresh air back out.

Passive Air Purifiers are more efficient at capture and removal of particulates but should also include an internal method to destroy the collected bacteria and pathogens from the filter. Airgle systems can boast a one pass capture and destroy where others cant.

Who does it benefit?

Air purification benefits everyone who is using a space that has cleaner air. Real benefits are seen in healthcare settings where airborne viruses are more likely to be circulating, and where air cleanliness is vital for patients with reduced immunity or sensitivities to allergens. Medical grade air purifiers are also widely used in dentistry, where it is needed to remove potentially harmful aerosols and droplets produced during high-speed scaling and drilling.

Many organisations and businesses are choosing to invest in air purifiers and air cleaners to make their shops, offices and public settings cleaner and healthier spaces, benefiting not only customers, but also safeguarding the health and wellbeing of their employees while at work.

Air purification is also becoming increasingly popular for people in their own homes. With the rise in awareness of how pollution, household toxins, allergens and viruses found in the home can affect health, new affordable solutions are being snapped up by those wanting to benefit from better indoor air quality, especially allergy and asthma sufferers, and those wanting to reduce or eliminate second-hand tobacco smoke.

Airgle air purifiers for all

Airgle design and manufacture medical grade air purifiers and air cleaners to suit a range of needs: personal air purifiers, room air purifiers, medical air purifiers, hospital grade air purifiers, and air purifiers for dentists. The purifiers in Airgle’s range are passive, involving an extremely high level of air filtration, and include auto cleaning technology and auto temperature control settings for ultimate comfort and ease.

Airgle air purifiers are the first in the world to deliver the highest Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) ratings with a 100 per cent sealed design. The air purification level is medical and clean room rated at an efficiency up to 99.999 per cent which makes it 10 times more effective than comparable HEPA filters. Airgles’s air cleaning systems can also remove particles down to a tiny 0.003 microns – 100 times smaller than the industry standard HEPA 13 Filter.
